140 questions in NEET ‘guess paper’ match actual exam, probe underway

A major controversy has erupted over the NEET 2026 exam. An investigation by the Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) has revealed that approximately 140 questions in a handwritten “guess paper” that went viral before the exam matched the questions asked in the actual NEET exam. This has further fueled suspicion of a paper leak.

According to reports, this handwritten question bank contained over 300 questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Of these, approximately 140 questions are believed to be the same as those in the NEET 2026 exam held on May 3. Since each question is worth 4 marks, this tally adds up to approximately 600 marks.

Question Bank Circulated Before the Exam

According to sources, this alleged guess paper began circulating in Rajasthan’s Sikar district on May 1st, meaning it reached students two days before the exam. Investigating agencies are now investigating whether this was merely a highly accurate practice paper or part of a larger paper leak racket.

The investigation also revealed that the order of options for many questions was identical to the actual question paper. Sources claim that this material was sold to students for prices ranging from 20,000 to 2 lakh rupees. Copies were being distributed for around 30,000 rupees the night before the exam.

Investigation Reaches MBBS Student Studying in Kerala

The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) investigation has reportedly reached an MBBS student from Churu who is currently studying at a medical college in Kerala. It is alleged that he sent this material to a friend in Sikar on May 1, after which it quickly spread among coaching networks, PG hostels, career counselors, and NEET aspirants.

Officials say the handwriting throughout the document appears to be consistent. The investigation also revealed that the material was widely shared through social media and encrypted messaging apps. Several chats also contained the tag “forwarded many times,” suggesting that the paper reached a large number of students.

PG operator in Sikar also under investigation

A PG operator in Sikar is also under investigation. It is alleged that he first received and further shared this material. He later filed a complaint with the police and the NTA. Investigating agencies suspect this move may have been to protect himself.

Police are also investigating whether print copies of this alleged question bank were also distributed to students offline. Investigating agencies are investigating the entire network, its sources, and the roles of those involved.

NTA stated that a decision will be made after the investigation

In a statement issued on May 10, the National Testing Agency (NTA) stated that it is aware of the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) investigation into alleged irregularities in NEET 2026. According to the agency, it received information about alleged irregularities four days after the exam, after which the matter was handed over to the relevant agencies.

The NTA stated that a decision on further action will be taken only after the investigation agencies’ reports are received. The agency assured that the entire process will be conducted in a transparent manner.

Memories of the 2024 NEET Controversy Resurfaced

This entire matter has once again revived memories of the 2024 NEET controversy. At that time, allegations of paper leaks, grace marks, and exam irregularities were raised. The matter reached the Supreme Court and students protested across the country.
