Rahul Gandhi Greets IYC on Foundation Day, Hails Its ‘Proud Legacy’ of Giving Voice to Youth

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday extended greetings to members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on the organisation’s Foundation Day, highlighting its role in giving young Indians a platform to raise their voices and fight for their rights and aspirations.

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said India’s youth are its “greatest strength” and praised the IYC’s legacy of amplifying the concerns of young people.

“Greetings to all Indian Youth Congress members on IYC’s Foundation Day! India’s greatest strength is its youth, and IYC has a proud legacy of giving young Indians a platform – amplifying their voices, raising their concerns, and fighting for their rights, dreams and aspirations,” Gandhi wrote.

Rahul Gandhi Says IYC Standing With Youth

Gandhi further said that young people are currently fighting against what he described as a system “rigged against them” and asserted that the Indian Youth Congress is standing with them.

“Today, when our youth are fighting against a system that is rigged against them, IYC is standing with them every step of the way,” the Congress leader said.

The Indian Youth Congress is the youth wing of the Indian National Congress and was founded on August 9, 1960. According to the information shared by the organisation, it has more than two crore registered members.

The organisation has undertaken several initiatives, including the ‘Shakti Super She’ campaign aimed at strengthening women’s association and engagement with the Congress party. Other programmes include the Bharat Jodo leadership programme, Pehla Vote, Indira Fellowship and initiatives focused on raising the voice of youth.

Uday Bhanu Chib currently serves as the President of the Indian Youth Congress, while Krishna Allavaru is its Joint Secretary.

Rahul Gandhi Targets Centre Over Unemployment

Meanwhile, a day earlier, Rahul Gandhi participated in the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme at KP Ground in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.

During the programme, Gandhi launched an attack on the Central government over unemployment and claimed that only a small proportion of young people are able to secure permanent employment.

His remarks on IYC Foundation Day also focused on the concerns and aspirations of India’s young population, with the Congress leader emphasising the need to provide youth with a platform to raise their voices and fight for their rights.
