Bihar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped Indian military operations against Pakistan-based terror camps under the directions of former US President Donald Trump.
Addressing a public rally in Muzaffarpur, Gandhi claimed that during a White House meeting in 2019, Trump stated he had asked Modi to end strikes within 24 hours. “Trump said Modi stopped the operation in just five hours. This shows our Prime Minister follows orders from outside instead of protecting the country’s interests,” Gandhi said.
The allegation refers to “Operation Sindoor,” an Indian military exercise reportedly aimed at targeting terrorist bases across the border. Gandhi accused the Modi government of compromising national security and questioned the Prime Minister’s handling of India–Pakistan tensions.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rejected such claims, maintaining that no foreign leader influenced India’s decisions. Government officials have consistently asserted that military de-escalation with Pakistan was the outcome of direct talks between the two sides’ armed forces, not international intervention.
The charge comes amid the ongoing election campaign in Bihar, where opposition parties have intensified criticism of the Centre on issues of security, economy, and governance.
