Amritsar: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi visited the flood affected areas in Amritsar on 15 September. During this, he was honoured by the managers of Baba Budha Sahib Ji’s Gurdwara Sahib and Sri Darbar Sahib by presenting him with a Siropa.
Controversy arose after the Siropa was given. Various Sikh organizations lodged objections to this before the SGPC. When the matter came to the notice of the SGPC, they took notice of it.
SGPC issued a press note last night regarding the matter.
Chief Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the matter is under investigation and strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.
Dhami said that the interim committee of SGPC had already decided that only religious personalities, Ragi Singhs and Sikh great men are allowed to give Siropa in the darbar of Gurdwara Sahiban. There is a ban on giving this honor to any other special person.
Action will be taken against the guilty.
The investigation of the incident that took place at Gurdwara Baba Budha Sahib is ongoing. Chief Advocate Dhami said that a full report will be prepared soon, and if anyone is found guilty, strict action will be taken against him.
Dhami also said that giving Siropa from Gurdwara Sahib to Rahul Gandhi, a Congress party leader and member of the Gandhi family, who is considered responsible for the genocide of Sikhs, is not acceptable under any circumstances. This is against Sikh dignity and traditions.
