New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Friday reiterated his charge of large-scale “vote theft” in the Haryana Assembly elections, alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) “stole mandates” across several states.
Speaking to IANS, Gandhi said the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the BJP had “failed to respond” to the evidence he presented earlier at a press conference.
“I demonstrated in my presentation that the Haryana elections were not elections in the true sense. There was wholesale theft of votes,” he said, claiming that fake votes, impersonation, and forged voter photographs were used to manipulate results.
“The BJP is defending the Election Commission, but none of my claims have been denied,” he added.
‘Modi, Shah and the ECI Attacking the Constitution’
Gandhi alleged that the BJP and the Election Commission were “attacking the Constitution,” asserting that the fundamental principle of “one person, one vote” had been violated.
“The examples from Haryana show that this principle was broken. One woman was shown voting multiple times. Even a Brazilian woman’s identity was used to cast a vote,” he said, adding that these instances exposed systemic manipulation.
He further claimed that similar electoral malpractices were being replicated in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat. “In Gujarat, it has become a normal practice,” the Congress leader alleged.
‘I Have Volumes of Material, Will Reveal More Proof’
Gandhi vowed to continue releasing what he called “evidence of vote theft,” asserting that young Indians would soon see how elections were “stolen.”
“The process is ongoing. Narendra Modi became PM through vote theft — and soon there will be no doubt in people’s minds. I have volumes of material and will keep revealing the evidence,” he said.
Gandhi concluded by saying that his campaign would expose what he described as an “assault on democracy” and the “systematic undermining” of India’s electoral integrity.
