Rain and Hailstorms Bring Relief from Heat Across Rajasthan

Jaipur, Rajasthan: A significant change in weather over the past few days brought much-needed relief from the heat across large parts of Rajasthan, as rain and hailstorms lashed several districts, lowering temperatures and providing respite from the ongoing warm conditions. This shift is attributed to an active western disturbance influencing weather patterns over the desert state.

Stormy Weather in Multiple Districts

Meteorological officials reported that many regions across Rajasthan experienced rain showers accompanied by hail and strong winds, which not only broke the spell of rising heat but also resulted in the mercury dropping significantly. Places such as Jaipur, Alwar, Dausa, Didwana, Kota, Bikaner, Ajmer and Sri Ganganagar saw spells of rain and hail, with cloudy skies and overcast conditions bringing a noticeable chill.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued weather alerts — including orange and yellow warnings — for several districts as the system moved over northwest India. These alerts warned residents about thunderstorms, rainfall and strong winds, even as temperatures dipped below normal for this time of year.

Relief and Concerns

While the showers have lowered daytime temperatures and offered a pleasant break from the heat, the hailstorms and rain have also caused disruptions and concerns, particularly for farmers and communities in agricultural areas. Unseasonal hail and heavy winds can damage standing crops and affect rural livelihoods, even as urban residents welcome the cooler weather.

Forecasters say that this weather pattern, driven by the western disturbance, may continue to influence the region’s climate in the coming days, keeping temperatures more moderate than typical for early spring.
