Rain in 4 Haryana districts, alert issued for 10 districts; waterlogging in several areas of Hisar

The monsoon will remain active in Haryana today, Thursday. The Chandigarh Meteorological Centre issued an alert at 7:15 AM. According to the alert, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is expected in 14 districts: Fatehabad, Hisar, Hansi, Jind, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurugram, Nuh, Faridabad, and Palwal.

Among these, four districts Hisar, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Rewari experienced rainfall this morning. Waterlogging occurred in some areas of Hisar and Gurugram, causing inconvenience to residents. In view of the heavy rain and waterlogging, the Gurugram Police issued a ‘work-from-home’ advisory. The police have appealed to the corporate sector and private establishments to allow as many employees as possible to work from home.

Meanwhile, several parts of the state received significant rainfall over the past 24 hours. The highest rainfall, 78.5 mm, was recorded in Gurugram. Near Raipur village in Yamunanagar, the embankment of the Pathrala River breached, causing river water to rapidly spread into nearby fields.

The water level at the Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar rose sharply; 15 out of 18 gates were opened to release 63,110 cusecs of water towards Delhi. This water is expected to reach Delhi today.

Pathrala River embankment breached, crops submerged

The breach in the Pathrala River’s embankment near Raipur village in Yamunanagar caused water to quickly inundate surrounding fields. This resulted in the submergence of hundreds of acres of agricultural land across several nearby villages, including Taruwala, Raipur, Balauli, Yaqubpur, and Urjani. A flow of 5,000 cusecs in the Pathrala River is considered a flood-like situation, whereas the river is currently carrying approximately 5,700 cusecs of water.

Yamuna water level rises due to rain

Following heavy rainfall in the Yamuna’s catchment areas (Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh), the water level at the Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar rose rapidly. On Tuesday, the water flow at the barrage reached 79,620 cusecs. Subsequently, 15 of the barrage’s 18 gates were opened to release 63,110 cusecs of water towards Delhi. This water is expected to reach Delhi today.
