Rain predicted across Punjab today, temperature to remain below 30 degrees

Today, the weather is expected to remain normal across Punjab for the next 48 hours, and no alerts have been issued by the Meteorological Department. During this period, light rain can be seen across the state as a western disturbance is active, due to which it has been raining since yesterday and the temperature remains below normal.

According to the Meteorological Center, there has been a slight increase of 0.2 degrees in the last 24 hours, but it is still 3.5 degrees below normal. On Friday, the highest temperature in the state was recorded in Samrala and Sri Anandpur Sahib at 33.4 degrees.

Rain in past 24 hours 

Talking about rain, till 5.30 pm on Friday, Hoshiarpur received the highest rainfall of 49 mm, while Patiala received 14.8 mm, Rupnagar 9.5 mm, Mohali 5.5 mm, Moga 4 mm, Ferozepur 3 mm, Fazilka 2.5 mm, Ludhiana 1.4 mm and Amritsar 1.3 mm.

New Western Disturbance towards Pakistan 

A new western disturbance is active towards Pakistan. Due to which intermittent rains occurred in the entire state yesterday. Along with this, there is a possibility of rain in the entire Punjab today as well. There is a high possibility of rain in the districts adjoining Himachal Pradesh, while light rain is likely in other states. According to the Meteorological Center, heavy rain is likely to occur in Punjab on August 4-5. A new phase of monsoon will begin from August 4.
