Rain and Snowfall Expected in Jammu and Kashmir Until March 20: Meteorological Department

Srinagar: The weather in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to remain unstable for the next few days. According to the Meteorological Department, many parts of the state will remain cloudy until March 20, with occasional light rain or snowfall possible.

March 18–20: Rain and Snowfall in Many Areas

According to the Meteorological Department, the entire region will remain generally cloudy between March 18 and 20. Intermittent light to moderate rain or snowfall is expected at many places during this period. Heavy snowfall is also expected at some places, especially in the Chenab Valley and the higher reaches of South Kashmir.

In addition, thunderstorms are likely during this period. Strong winds, reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, are expected in some areas, making the weather even colder and more unstable. Hailstorms are also expected at isolated locations.

March 21–25: Weather Improvement

The Meteorological Department has reported that the weather is expected to improve between March 21 and 25. During this period, dry weather and clear skies are expected in most areas, providing some relief for residents.

March 26–28: Weather to Change Again

However, this relief will not last long. According to the department, the weather may change again between March 26 and 28, and a new round of rain or snowfall may begin in the state.

Advice for Travelers and Transporters

The Meteorological Department has advised travelers and transporters to remain vigilant. Important passes in high-altitude areas may be affected due to inclement weather, causing travel difficulties. Therefore, ensure you obtain the latest weather information before traveling and plan accordingly.

Warning for Farmers

Farmers have also been advised to exercise special caution during this period. Constantly changing weather, strong winds, rain, and hailstorms can cause damage to crops. Therefore, farmers have been advised to temporarily suspend agricultural activities to avoid any potential losses.
