Rajasthan: The ongoing spell of storms and rainfall that began last week is expected to continue till the end of March. The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of two separate weather systems affecting the state between March 26 and 31. However, the weather is likely to remain clear today.

In the past 24 hours, light rainfall was recorded in Jaipur, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu and other districts. Afternoon showers were also reported in Kota, Baran, Ajmer and nearby areas.

Rainfall and Temperature Drop in Jaipur
On Monday morning, several parts of Jaipur witnessed light rain accompanied by thunder. The city recorded 8 mm rainfall, while Shahpura received 5 mm and Jalsu 1 mm.

Cloud cover persisted through the day, leading to a drop of around 3°C in temperature. The maximum temperature settled at 28.5°C, while the minimum was recorded at 19.2°C.

Relief from Heat in Western Districts
Western Rajasthan districts including Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Ganganagar experienced normal temperatures following rainfall on March 22.

Barmer recorded the highest maximum temperature at 35.8°C, while Bikaner recorded 33°C, Churu 32.4°C, Jaisalmer 33.4°C, Jodhpur 34.3°C, Ganganagar 32.5°C and Udaipur 33.5°C. Most cities in the region reported temperatures below normal, providing relief from heat.

What Lies Ahead?
According to Radhey Shyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, weather conditions are expected to remain clear on March 24 and 25.

However, due to back-to-back western disturbances, light rainfall is likely in eastern and northern parts of the state in the coming days.

Another strong western disturbance may become active between March 29 and 31, bringing thunderstorms and rain to north-western and north-eastern regions of Rajasthan.
