Sangrur: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of misleading the family of Gulzar Singh by presenting a recommendation letter as a job offer.
Warring, who met the family in Sangrur, alleged that instead of an actual appointment letter, the family was given a letter from the local Deputy Commissioner recommending that a government job be provided to one of its members.

Warring Demands Action Against Harpal Cheema
Warring alleged that the family was made to believe the document was a job offer before Gulzar Singh’s cremation. He termed the episode a case of “cheating and fraud” against the family.
He also renewed the Congress’ demand for the immediate dismissal of Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and his arrest after registration of a case for alleged abetment to suicide.
Warring alleged that Gulzar Singh was driven to take the extreme step after being intimidated and humiliated by people allegedly linked to Cheema. These are allegations made by Warring and the Congress.
Congress Assures Family of Support
Responding to allegations that the opposition was politicising the matter, Warring said it was the Congress’ responsibility to stand with the family and seek justice. He said Gulzar Singh had allegedly mentioned the minister in his dying declaration.
Warring assured the family that the Congress would continue to raise the issue and seek punishment for anyone found responsible.
Congress Workers Protest Across Punjab
Warring said the Congress leadership, from Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to grassroots workers, was standing with the family.
He added that Congress workers staged demonstrations across Punjab on Thursday, demanding action against Harpal Cheema and seeking justice for Gulzar Singh’s family.
