Punjab Congress Chief Raja Warring Urges PM Modi for Immediate Flood Relief Package

Amritsar, Sep 1: Punjab Congress President and Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding an immediate relief package for the state.

Warring said that all 23 districts of Punjab have been affected by the floods, and it has caused heavy losses to crops as well as the lives of people.

Warring said in the letter that there is an urgent need to pay attention to the devastation caused by the severe floods in Punjab.

Among the affected districts, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Pathankot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, Sangrur and Batala are the worst affected.

Punjab needs immediate help

So far, there has been a huge loss of life, property and crops due to the floods. Rains are expected to continue for the next few days, which may worsen the situation. Many people have not yet received proper relief and help. The Home Ministry has formed teams to assess the situation, but Punjab needs immediate help.

1300 villages have been submerged

Raja Warring said that the estimated loss so far is more than thousands of crores of rupees. About 1300 villages have been completely submerged and lakhs of people are affected. Crops have been completely destroyed.

Paddy crop destroyed Vading said that the same paddy crop, which feeds millions of people across the country, is now on the verge of destruction. This is a big natural disaster, which has caused unimaginable losses. At such a time, it is the duty of the country to stand with Punjab and its farmers.
