Rajasthan: Railway Engineer, Jaipur Discom AE, Lineman Held in ₹10,000 Bribery Trap

Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested three persons, including a Railway Senior Section Engineer and two Jaipur Discom officials, in a trap operation in Bandikui, Dausa district, for allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe linked to the issuance of a Meter Changing Order (MCO) required for net metering of a solar power plant at Bandikui Railway Station.

Three Officials Arrested in Bribery Trap

The accused have been identified as Dharmraj Gurjar, Senior Section Engineer (Electrical), Bandikui Railway Junction, North Western Railway (NWR); Chhotelal Saini, Assistant Engineer, Jaipur Discom, Bandikui; and Dharmendra Saini, Lineman Grade-I, Jaipur Discom, Bandikui.

According to the ACB, a complaint was received alleging that the complainant’s firm had submitted a net metering file and that Chhotelal Saini and Dharmendra Saini had demanded ₹10,000 for issuing the MCO and processing the file.

Following a preliminary inquiry and verification of the alleged demand, the ACB launched a trap operation on the directions of its Jaipur headquarters.

₹10,000 Allegedly Accepted, Amount Recovered

During the operation, Dharmendra Saini and Chhotelal Saini allegedly directed the complainant to visit Dharmraj Gurjar’s office at Bandikui Railway Junction. The ACB alleged that all three accused acted in collusion during the transaction.

According to investigators, Gurjar allegedly accepted ₹10,000 from the complainant and counted the currency notes. He then allegedly placed ₹5,000 in a khaki envelope and handed it to Dharmendra Saini and Chhotelal Saini, who allegedly kept the envelope inside the original file.

The ACB recovered the ₹5,000 allegedly concealed in the file and arrested all three accused at the spot. The remaining ₹5,000 was reportedly returned by Gurjar to the complainant during the transaction and was subsequently seized by the ACB as evidence.

Investigation Underway

The ACB said interrogation of the accused and further legal proceedings are underway. A case will be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the investigation will proceed according to law.

The agency also said that any person against whom a formal complaint, preliminary inquiry or case is registered can approach the ACB to present their side or submit an explanation. Further action is taken after considering the explanation as part of the bureau’s procedure.
