Rajasthan Bus Fire: Six Charred Victims Identified Through DNA Testing in Dausa Crash

Jaipur: The bodies of six passengers killed in the devastating bus-trailer collision and fire on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district have been identified through DNA testing, police officials confirmed on Thursday. The bodies have now been handed over to their families after post-mortem examinations.

The tragic accident claimed a total of eight lives, while 22 others were injured in the incident.

    Victims Identified Through DNA Testing

Due to the severity of the fire, several bodies were charred beyond recognition, making visual identification impossible. Authorities therefore conducted DNA profiling to confirm identities.

The six victims identified through DNA testing include:

    • Bhumi Bhaur (Indore)
    • Priyanka Pandey (Barwah)
    • Deepak Tanwar (Khargone, MP)
    • Nirmala Gupta (Indore)
    • Devendra Singh (Sidhganj, MP)
    • Ram Avtar (Bus driver)

Officials said DNA samples of some victims were sent to Jaipur for testing on Wednesday and Thursday, after which the identities were confirmed.

    Bodies Handed Over After Post-Mortem

Following confirmation through DNA reports, post-mortem examinations were conducted and the bodies were released to the families. Authorities ensured legal and medical formalities were completed before handing over the remains.

Two other victims had been identified earlier, including the bus operator Kuldeep, who died due to head injuries, and Dharamsingh from Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district.

    How the Accident Happened

The accident took place late on July 1 when a sleeper bus collided with a trailer on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The impact triggered a massive fire, engulfing the bus and trapping several passengers inside.

Emergency teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured and deceased to Dausa District Hospital. Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision and subsequent fire.
