Man Arrested for ₹24.37 Lakh Government Job Scam in Rajasthan, Fake Appointment Letters Used

Sirohi: Police in Rajasthan’s Sirohi district have arrested a man accused of cheating a job aspirant of ₹24.37 lakh by promising a government job and allegedly issuing forged appointment letters. Investigators believe the accused may have targeted several other candidates using the same modus operandi.

The accused, identified as Rakesh Jingar, a resident of Takhatgarh in Pali district, was arrested by the Shivganj police. He had recently secured bail in another related case before being taken into custody again in connection with the latest fraud investigation.

₹24.37 Lakh Collected on Promise of Government Job

According to the police complaint, the accused convinced the victim that he could arrange a permanent government job based on records linked to the 2018 Department of Local Bodies (DLB) LDC recruitment. Claiming to have strong connections with officials, he allegedly demanded money for processing documents and securing the appointment.

Between September 2024 and June 2025, the victim reportedly paid ₹24.37 lakh through cash, bank transfers and digital transactions.

Fake Appointment Letter and Mock Joining Ceremony

Police said the accused later took the complainant to the Jalore Municipal Council, where he allegedly handed over a forged appointment letter and staged a fake joining process by making the victim sign an office register to create the impression that he had been appointed.

However, when the promised job failed to materialise, the victim sought a refund. Police said the accused allegedly delayed repayment and later threatened the complainant, prompting him to file a formal complaint.

    Police Verification Exposes Forged Documents

During the investigation, police verified the appointment letter with officials at the Jalore Municipal Council, who confirmed that the document had never been issued by the department and was completely fake.

The findings strengthened the fraud case against the accused, leading to his arrest.

    Accused Arrested Again After Bail

Police said the accused had been released on bail in an earlier case on July 3. Following fresh evidence gathered during the Shivganj investigation, he was arrested again.

Investigators are now examining financial transactions, forged documents and other evidence to determine whether more people were duped using the same scheme.

    Several More Victims Come Forward

The investigation has revealed that multiple youths may have been cheated after being promised government jobs.

According to police, some victims allegedly sold land, while others pledged jewellery or took bank and agricultural loans to arrange the money demanded by the accused.

Separate complaints have also been registered in connection with similar allegations, and investigators are probing the possibility of a wider recruitment fraud racket.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
