Rajasthan heatwave, rain alert; Barmer nears 46°C

People in Rajasthan, who were enduring extreme heat, humidity, and heatwaves, got some relief on Saturday. Due to the effect of the western disturbance, light rain and hail occurred in several districts including Sikar, Bikaner, Rajsamand, Phalodi, and Alwar.

The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued an alert that this system will continue to affect the state over the next three days, with thunderstorms, rain, and hail in some areas.

Today, there is a yellow alert for rainfall in 2 districts. On the other hand, a yellow alert for heatwave has been issued for 13 districts. Meanwhile, Barmer recorded a temperature of 45.7 degrees Celsius. Jaipur experienced the hottest night of the season.

For the first time, mercury rises above 40 degrees in all cities

Looking at the weather of the past 24 hours, the state experienced intense heat and heatwave effects until Saturday afternoon. The temperature in all cities of Rajasthan was recorded above 40 degrees Celsius.

In Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner, and Barmer, the maximum temperature was recorded between 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. Along with extreme heat, some areas also experienced humidity. Friday night was the hottest night in Jaipur. Saturday was the hottest day in Barmer.

Warm night in Jaipur, temperature 7 degrees above normal

Jaipur experienced intense heat from Saturday morning to afternoon, with a slight impact of heatwave in some areas. In the afternoon, there was a change in the weather, and clouds covered most places, providing relief from the sun and heat. The daytime temperature was recorded at 41.8 degrees Celsius. Earlier, Jaipur had a warm night. At night, the minimum temperature recorded here was 31.4 degrees Celsius, which was 7.4 degrees above the normal temperature here. This was the hottest night of the season in Jaipur.

The weather suddenly changed in Alwar on Saturday. Clouds appeared around 5 PM. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.8°C and the minimum temperature at 27.6°C. People were troubled by the heat since Saturday morning. Even after clouds covered the sky in the evening, the effect of the heat did not reduce.

Mercury rose by 2 degrees in Udaipur

In Udaipur too, on Saturday, the general public had to suffer due to heat and hot winds. The Meteorological Department recorded a maximum temperature of 42 and a minimum temperature of 25.5 degrees on Saturday. This is the highest temperature in Udaipur so far this season. On Saturday, the mercury rose by 2 degrees to reach 42. Earlier, the maximum temperature was 39.6 degrees.
