Rajasthan: Internet services suspended in Hanumangarh ahead of farmers’ mahapanchayat

Jaipur: Internet services have been suspended in Hanumangarh district from 11 am on Tuesday to 12 noon on Wednesday in view of the farmers’ mahapanchayat. This order was issued by the Divisional Commissioner to maintain law and order.

    Internet Shutdown Before Farmers’ Mahapanchayat

This mahapanchayat is being held on December 17th at the grain market complex in Hanumangarh district headquarters to protest against the Tibbi ethanol factory. According to the administration, the decision to shut down the internet was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent any rumors or unrest.

Talks between farmer organizations and administration inconclusive

A meeting between representatives of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the district administration late Monday night ended without any agreement. District Collector Khushal Yadav imposed a condition banning tractors from participating in the mahapanchayat, which was strongly opposed by farmer leaders. Superintendent of Police Harishankar and other senior officials were also present at the meeting.

Conditions rejected, Mahapanchayat to be held as scheduled

The administration attached certain conditions to the permission for the Mahapanchayat, including a ban on the entry of tractors, a cap on the number of participants, and prior permission. SKM representatives Mangej Chaudhary, Resham Singh Manuka, and Raghuveer Verma rejected these conditions, stating that tractors are essential for farmers. Farmer leaders clarified that the Mahapanchayat will be held as scheduled. Meanwhile, senior farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal from Punjab arrived in Hanumangarh and expressed support for the movement, although he expressed his inability to attend the Mahapanchayat on December 17.
