A shocking incident has emerged from central India where the wife of a Rajasthan judge was found dead inside the toilet of a moving train. The deceased has been identified as Usha Chauhan, wife of Additional District Judge Rajkumar Chauhan, who is posted in Nimbahera in Rajasthan. The incident occurred during their journey on the Kacheguda–Bhagat Ki Kothi Express (17606), which runs between Telangana and Rajasthan.
Authorities believe that the woman may have suffered a silent heart attack, although the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after further medical examination and investigation.
According to police officials, the couple had boarded the train from Bhagat Ki Kothi station in Jodhpur and were travelling towards Nimbahera in Chittorgarh district. Despite travelling together, their seats were booked in different coaches of the train.
Shortly before the train was about to reach Nimbahera, Usha Chauhan called her husband and informed him that she was going to the washroom. This was the last conversation between the couple.
When the train reached Nimbahera station, Judge Rajkumar Chauhan got down from the train and waited for his wife on the platform. However, she did not come out of the coach. Concerned about her absence, he tried contacting her but received no response.
After waiting for some time, the judge informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) and railway officials about the situation. By then, the train had already left the station.
The railway police quickly began tracing the woman’s mobile phone location. The location data showed that her phone was still inside the train. This raised suspicions that she had not left the train at all.
Officials then coordinated with railway authorities and decided to stop the train at Jaora station in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh for a detailed search.
During the search operation, officers found one of the train’s washrooms locked from inside. When repeated attempts to open the door failed, police personnel broke it open. Inside, they discovered Usha Chauhan lying unconscious.
She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead-on arrival.
Preliminary medical assessments indicate that Usha Chauhan may have suffered a silent heart attack, a condition where symptoms are minimal or unnoticed until the heart stops functioning.
Police officials said there were no immediate signs of foul play, but the case is still under investigation as part of standard procedure in sudden death cases.
Railway police have begun recording statements of railway staff, passengers, and family members to understand the sequence of events. CCTV footage and call records may also be examined to rule out any other possibility.
The tragic incident has left the judge’s family and colleagues in shock. Authorities stated that such sudden medical emergencies during travel are rare but highlight the importance of quick medical access and emergency response systems on trains.
