Man Cuts Off Mother-in-Law’s Nose in Rajasthan, Flees

A shocking incident of violence has emerged from Jalore district, where a man allegedly cut off his mother-in-law’s nose with scissors following a family dispute and fled the scene with the severed portion. The attack left the victim seriously injured and triggered a police search operation for the accused.

The incident occurred in Dungari ke Bandha village under the jurisdiction of the Sarwana police station area, according to officials. Police identified the accused as Sohanlal, who allegedly carried out the attack after tensions escalated within the family.

Authorities say the shocking act was the result of a prolonged dispute between the man and his wife’s family.

Long-standing family dispute behind attack

Police investigations revealed that the accused had been facing marital problems for some time. Sohanlal married Sarita about six years ago, but the couple had been living separately for nearly a year due to ongoing disagreements.

Community elders and local panchayat members had previously attempted to resolve the conflict between the two families, but their efforts failed to settle the dispute.

According to police officials, the accused believed his mother-in-law was responsible for creating tension between him and his wife, which allegedly led to resentment and anger.

Victim attacked while going to police station

The victim, identified as Keli Devi, reportedly decided to approach the police after tensions escalated within the family. On the day of the incident, she was heading to the local police station to file a complaint against her son-in-law.

Police said that around the evening hours, the accused confronted her on the way and attacked her with a pair of scissors. During the assault, he allegedly cut off her nose and fled the scene carrying the severed part.

The brutal act left bystanders shocked and the victim seriously injured.

Victim rushed to hospital for treatment

After the attack, family members and local residents rushed Keli Devi to a nearby government hospital for immediate medical attention. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was later shifted to a hospital in Mehsana for advanced treatment.

Doctors are currently treating her injuries, and medical authorities are monitoring her condition closely.

Police officials stated that the victim’s statement will be recorded once her health condition improves.

Police launch search for accused

Following the incident, police registered a case against the accused and launched a search operation to locate him. The suspect fled immediately after the attack and remains absconding.
