CJP-Villagers Clash Over Rajasthan School Turns Political, Children Await New Building

Jaipur: A confrontation between villagers and a team of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) over the poor condition of a government school in Rajasthan’s Rampura-Kanwarpura village has now turned into a political controversy, while questions remain over when local children will get a proper school building.

The Government Primary School in Rampura-Kanwarpura village of the Bagru Assembly constituency has reportedly remained in a dilapidated condition for the past one to two years. The issue came into focus on Friday when a CJP team visited the village to inspect the condition of the school.

The visit, however, ended in a confrontation between CJP activists and villagers, with both sides making allegations against each other.

CJP Team, Villagers Clash Over School Inspection

CJP activists alleged that they were assaulted and prevented from inspecting the school. Villagers, meanwhile, said they did not want political organisations turning the school premises into a site of confrontation and maintained that their priority was reconstruction of the school.

The situation escalated when protesters allegedly blocked the road using tractor-trolleys. A second confrontation took place after the CJP team returned to the village along with party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka.

CJP subsequently accused Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar of instigating the incident and issued a 48-hour ultimatum, demanding action against those allegedly involved and withdrawal of restrictions on school inspections.

Dilawar rejected the criticism and backed the villagers, saying schools should remain secure and that anyone seeking to enter a government school should obtain permission from its head.

Rs 12 Lakh Sanctioned for New School Building

Amid the political allegations, villagers have raised a more basic question: if around Rs 12 lakh has already been sanctioned for construction of a new school building, why are children still studying in temporary premises?

According to villagers, the existing school building has been in poor condition for a considerable period. Students are currently attending classes from a private residence, while questions have also been raised over the payment of rent for the temporary premises.

The villagers said the sanctioned funds should be utilised for construction of the new building instead of allowing the issue to become a political dispute.

Children Continue Studies in Temporary Premises

For the students and their parents, the political confrontation is secondary to the need for a safe and functional school.

Villager Chhota Devi Sharma said the school is in a dilapidated condition and requires immediate improvement. She said that although both sides contributed to the confrontation, the priority should be fixing the school and providing better facilities to the children.

Other villagers also said they wanted the sanctioned amount to be used for construction of the new building at the earliest.

The controversy has also raised questions about where the children will study until the construction is completed, who will monitor the project and whether the new building will have adequate classrooms and basic facilities.

CJP Expands ‘School Thik Karo’ Campaign

For the CJP, the Rampura-Kanwarpura incident is part of its wider campaign over the condition of government schools in Rajasthan.

The organisation has said it is responding to complaints from villagers and inspecting schools to highlight infrastructure and other deficiencies. It has also questioned restrictions on such inspections and warned of further protests if its demands are not addressed.

The confrontation has therefore expanded the original school issue into a wider debate over political intervention, school security and the role of outside organisations in inspecting government institutions.

However, the condition of the school remains the central concern for local residents.

The government has reportedly sanctioned funds for a new building, while villagers have demanded that construction begin without further delay.

For the children of Rampura-Kanwarpura, the demand remains straightforward — a safe school building, proper classrooms and basic facilities to study.

The political confrontation may continue, but the immediate question is whether the attention generated by the dispute will finally lead to the reconstruction of the school or whether the children will continue studying in temporary arrangements.
