Storm Wreaks Havoc in Rajasthan: Tin Sheds Blown Away, One Dead; Heatwave Alert Issued Alongside Rain Warning

With the weakening of the western disturbance in Rajasthan, the heat has started to intensify. From Friday (May 8), a heatwave began in the western districts. As a result, the mercury in Jaisalmer and Barmer reached 44 degrees Celsius.

On the other hand, some districts of the state also experienced storms and rain. In the areas of Nagaur, Ajmer, Tonk, and Sawai Madhopur, the weather changed in the afternoon. Clouds gathered here, dust-laden winds blew, and there was light rain.

The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for 3 districts (Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer) on Saturday (today). At the same time, a yellow alert for storms and rain has been issued for areas around Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, and Alwar.

Meanwhile, in Dei, Bundi, a storm on Friday evening claimed the life of a person. Amid strong winds, Kesari Lal Mahawar (55), a resident of Koli Mohalla, had gone to handle the tin shed on the second floor of his house. The whirlwind carried Kesari Lal along with the tin shed for about 80 feet. He directly collided with a mobile tower and then fell down.

Heatwave in Jaisalmer, Phalodi, and Barmer

Looking at the weather of the past 24 hours, the weather remained dry across the state. With sunlight present, it was hot. The most heat was in Jaisalmer, Phalodi, and Barmer. These districts also experienced a heatwave. The highest maximum temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Phalodi. In Barmer, the mercury was 44.6 and in Jaisalmer it was 44 degrees Celsius.

Besides the western districts, Kota, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, and Udaipur also experienced intense heat during the day. The maximum temperature recorded was 43.4 in Chittorgarh, 41.4 in Bhilwara, 41.6 in Udaipur, 42 in Kota and Bikaner, 42.9 in Jodhpur, 40 in Churu and Sri Ganganagar, 40.7 in Nagaur and Jalore, and 40.8 degrees Celsius in Pali.

Rain in Tonk, Storms in Ajmer and Sawai Madhopur

Amid intense heat in the western and southern districts, the weather changed in some areas of Tonk, Ajmer, Sawai Madhopur, Nagaur, and Bundi. In Tonk, clouds gathered after noon, and with dusty winds, light rain occurred in some places. In some areas of Bundi, Nagaur, Ajmer, and Sawai Madhopur, clouds gathered and light storms provided relief from the heat for the people there.
