Mohali: Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda has been on a ventilator at Fortis Hospital in Mohali for the eighth consecutive day. In a medical bulletin issued on Friday, doctors stated that Jawanda’s heart remains on continuous life support to keep him beating.
Rajvir has suffered serious head and spinal injuries, leaving the rest of his body unable to function normally. Doctors say his condition is not improving as he would like.
Former MP and singer Hansraj Hans made an emotional appeal, saying, ” We should pray to Waheguru, God, and Allah that even if they shorten our lives, they may give Rajvir Jawanda some of those breaths. The prayers of millions of people can extend his life and he can return to us again.”
What happens when the patient is on a ventilator?
What a ventilator does: A ventilator is a machine that helps a patient breathe when they are unable to breathe on their own. It delivers oxygen to the lungs and removes carbon dioxide.
When is a ventilator used? Ventilation is used in critical situations when the patient is unable to breathe on their own. It is typically used in situations such as head, spine, lung, or heart injuries, severe infections, coma, or organ failure.
What is the treatment process? In the ICU, constant monitoring is performed. Life support systems support the heart, lungs, and other organs. Antibiotics, medications, and nutrition are provided to prevent infection.
