New Delhi: Raising a critical issue in Parliament today, Raghav Chadha highlighted Punjab’s escalating water crisis, warning of rapidly depleting groundwater and dangerously increasing contamination levels.
Invoking the sacred words of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji — “Pavan Guru, Paani Pita…” — Chadha spoke on behalf of over 3 crore Punjabis, drawing attention to shrinking rivers, plummeting aquifers, and the alarming presence of uranium and other heavy metals in the state’s water supply.

“Punjab, the food bowl of India, once nourished the entire nation through the Green Revolution, lifting India out of starvation and famine. But today, we are left to bear its heaviest burden,” Chadha said.
He stressed that the water crisis is no longer confined to Punjab alone and called for a united national response to address the urgent issue.
Chadha’s remarks have reignited discussions on sustainable water management and environmental safety, emphasizing the urgent need for policy intervention to protect both Punjab’s people and India’s food security.
