Forest Officials Assaulted During Anti-Encroachment Drive in Faridabad

Faridabad: A forest department team was attacked in the protected forest area of Aravalli in Surajkund police station area of Faridabad. During the operation, forest department officials were allegedly assaulted, torn government uniforms and threatened with death. After the incident, the Surajkund police station has registered a case against the accused father and son and started investigation.

Illegal construction found during patrol

According to the information received from the police, on Wednesday, forest inspectors Rajesh and Surendrapal reached Domka Mohalla of Anangpur village during regular patrolling. A tin shed was being constructed in the notified forest area here. Both of them told the people present at the spot that as per the orders of the Supreme Court, any kind of non-forestry construction is prohibited in this area and stopped the construction work immediately.

Controversy over continuation of construction

Meanwhile, the young man’s father Gajraj, who was present at the construction site, also reached there. It is alleged that he started arguing with the authorities and asked him to continue the construction, citing his influence. When the forest department team started recording photos and videos of the spot, the controversy escalated.

Forest officials assaulted, uniform torn

The forest department alleges that the father-son duo pushed and assaulted the officials while protesting against the government action. During this, the government uniform of Forest Inspector Rajesh was also torn. At the same time, both officers were also threatened with dire consequences and death.

The incident was immediately reported on Dial-112. Both the accused fled from the spot before the police arrived. The injured forest inspector was taken to BK Hospital for medical treatment.

The Surajkund police station has registered a case under sections of obstructing government work, assault, intimidation and other related sections on the basis of the complaint of the forest department and the medical report. The police are searching for the accused and the whole matter is being investigated.
