New Delhi: The hearing in the Kolkata rape-murder case is going on in the Supreme Court. A bench of Chief Justice (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Mishra are hearing the case. CJI said that a task force is being formed to improve the security of doctors, 9 doctors have been included in it, who will recommend measures for the safety, working conditions, and betterment of medical professionals.
Five central government officials have also been included in the task force. The court has sought a status report from the CBI by August 22 and a report on the incident from the state government. The next hearing of the case will be on August 23.
CJI Said That As more and more women join the work force, the nation cannot wait for another rape for things to change on the ground. we request all the doctors who are abstaining from work across the country to resume the work at the earliest. Above all the abstention from work of doctors effects those segments of the society who need medical care the most from accessing day to day services
Advocate Kapil Sibbal appeared on behalf of the West Bengal government in the Supreme Court today regarding the rape and murder case in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. The Chief Justice asked Sibbal in the court whether the principal is on leave or suspended? In response to this, advocate Sibbal said that the SIT has also been formed and he is on leave as per the High Court’s instructions. On Sibbal ‘s reply, the Solicitor General said that every information shared by the state should be given to the CBI. On this, Sibbal said that whatever is on social media is not correct.
The CJI told Sibbal that there is unnecessary delay in filing the FIR. The state should ensure that the vandals are caught. On this, advocate Sibbal said that 37 people have been arrested and 50 FIRs have been registered. Taking a dig at Sibbal’s this rider, the Solicitor General said that these 50 FIRs are a preparation for not investigating.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice said that show us the post mortem report. On this, Sibbal said that everything has been handed over to the CBI, even the case diary is with the CBI.
On this, the Supreme Court summoned the Central Bureau of Investigation and said that it should submit the status report of its investigation to the court on August 22. The case will be heard again on August 23.
