Ravneet Singh Bittu Lays Foundation Stones for Two Major Railway Overbridges in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, June 24: Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, Shri Ravneet Singh, on Wednesday laid the foundation stones for two key Road Over Bridge (ROB) projects at Guru Nanak Pura and Garha Road in Jalandhar, aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring seamless connectivity for commuters.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ravneet Singh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Punjab is witnessing unprecedented investment in railway infrastructure and safety projects.

The Minister said that the ROB at Guru Nanak Pura, to be constructed in place of Level Crossing No. B-67A on the Jalandhar City–Jalandhar Cantt section, will ease traffic congestion and eliminate delays caused by frequent closure of the railway crossing. The project, situated on the busy Sahnewal–Amritsar route, will be constructed at a cost of ₹48.95 crore and will now be fully funded by the Railways.

He also laid the foundation stone for a two-lane ROB at Garha Road in lieu of Level Crossing No. S-4 on the Jalandhar City–Nakodar section. The project, estimated to cost ₹63.98 crore, has also been converted into a 100 per cent Railway-funded scheme. Once completed, it will provide better connectivity to Jalandhar City, Jamsher Khas, Nakodar and adjoining areas while significantly improving safety and reducing traffic congestion.

“The projects will pave the way for safer roads, faster movement and improved connectivity for thousands of residents of Jalandhar. Our government remains committed to ensuring that infrastructure development delivers tangible benefits to every citizen,” Shri Ravneet Singh said.

The Minister appreciated the efforts of Railway officials, engineers, local authorities and all stakeholders involved in expediting these projects and expressed confidence that both ROBs would be completed within the stipulated timelines.
