Re-NEET: Student Who Allegedly Cheated Using Mobile Phone Sent to Jail; Device Sent for Forensic Examination

In the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG 2026 re-exam, the student who cheated with a mobile inside the center on Sunday was presented in court on Monday. The court has sent the student to jail (judicial custody). After the court appearance, the student came out hiding her face.

At the same time, the police have started the process of sending the mobile for forensic examination. On the basis of the inquiry report, it will be clear that the mobile was used only to find answers or there was also an attempt to pass on the question paper information to some other person.

If the investigation confirms the use of unfair means during the examination, then action can be taken against the concerned student. The Act provides for imprisonment of up to five years and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh if convicted.

In fact, on Sunday, a student was caught trying to cheat with a mobile while giving the exam at the examination center in Bindayaka. The teacher present in the examination hall found his activities suspicious and caught him. A mobile phone was found with him. The student had hidden the mobile under the shirt button in the undergarments. The accused student Himanshi Tiwari (22) is a resident of Prem Nagar Gurjar ki Thadi.

In the police interrogation, the student said that she had brought a mobile to find answers to the questions with the help of AI during the examination. The officials present at the examination center seized the mobile and handed it over to the police.

At the same time, pictures of the NEET question paper have also been found in the mobile found with the student about 15 minutes before the end of the examination. Due to the jammer being active around the examination center, she could not send out the pictures and other information.

Misled during metal detector investigation

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the alert was received from the metal detector twice during the entry. During interrogation, the student told the security personnel that the alert was coming due to the hook in the undergarments, after which she was allowed to enter the examination center.

In view of the seriousness of the case, the police also questioned the superintendent of the center and the staff posted in the examination duty till late night. The investigating agencies are also trying to find out how the mobile reached the examination hall despite the security check.
