Real Madrid Beat Barcelona 2-1 in El Clasico as Mbappe Scores Twice

Barcelona: Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou on Sunday, handing their rivals their first defeat of the La Liga season. The brace also took Mbappe to 100 goals for Real Madrid.

Madrid made the most of their chances and kept Barcelona under pressure for long spells. Mbappe opened the scoring in the 41st minute before Raphinha brought Barcelona level in the second half. With the game heading towards its closing stages, Mbappe struck again in the 88th minute to seal the win.

    Mbappe Opens Scoring Before Half-Time

Real Madrid looked sharper in the opening half, giving Barcelona little room to settle. Arda Guler had an early chance just four minutes into the game, but his shot went narrowly wide. He tested Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia again 14 minutes later, only to be denied.

Madrid finally broke through in the 41st minute. The move involved several players before the ball reached Mbappe, whose effort found the net after Gerard Martin deflected it while attempting to clear.

Barcelona had a chance to respond almost immediately, but Lamine Yamal missed from close range. Madrid nearly doubled their lead before the break when Yan Diomande found himself one-on-one with Garcia, but his shot struck the side netting.

Raphinha Levels the Game, Madrid Respond

Barcelona came back into the contest after the break and found the equaliser through Raphinha in the 61st minute.

Madrid were quick to threaten again. Two minutes later, Guler unleashed a powerful shot from a tight angle, forcing Garcia into an important save. Barcelona had a chance of their own in the 66th minute, but Andriy Lunin produced a fine stop to keep out Gerard Martin’s header from a corner.

The match also saw a flashpoint in the 56th minute, when Madrid called for Joao Cancelo to be sent off after he appeared to stamp on the back of Diomande’s thigh. The Madrid player had to leave the pitch briefly before returning.

Mbappe Strikes Again to Seal El Clasico Win

With the score level and time running out, Madrid found the goal they needed in the 88th minute.

Jude Bellingham started the move with a clever turn before playing the ball to Guler, who set up Eduardo Camavinga. The Frenchman then helped create the opening for Mbappe, who finished to complete his brace and reach the 100-goal mark for Real Madrid.

Madrid held on through the closing minutes to take all three points from Camp Nou. For Barcelona, the defeat marked their first loss in La Liga this season.
