Relief from Fog and cold wave: Weather to change in Punjab from 16th, rain likely

People in Punjab and Chandigarh are now relieved of the fog and cold wave. However, morning and evening chills remain. The weather is expected to change on February 16th. Rain and lightning are expected during this period.

However, the weather will remain dry from today (Wednesday) until the 15th. The maximum daytime temperature increased by 1.4 degrees, making it 2.1 degrees above normal. Faridkot recorded a high of 26 degrees, while Ludhiana and Faridkot recorded the lowest temperatures of 8.0 degrees. However, there will be no significant change in night temperatures.

These winds changed the weather

Currently, a Western Disturbance is present in the mountains. A cyclonic circulation induced by this disturbance is present over Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan. It is moving slightly upwards and approaching Punjab.

The wind direction has also shifted slightly, and southeasterly winds have begun blowing over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and some areas of Rajasthan. This has led to an increase in temperatures. However, previously, icy winds were blowing, preventing temperatures from rising. Now, the maximum temperature in all districts of Punjab has reached between 22.0 and 26.0 degrees Celsius, the highest this month.

Two New Western Disturbances Approaching

According to the Meteorological Department, a weather system (Western Disturbance) is currently circulating over Punjab and its surrounding areas. It is located at an altitude of approximately 3–6 kilometers. This could cause changes in the weather. Another new system will arrive on February 13th, followed by another on February 16th. This will alter weather patterns.

Chance of Rain on the 16th

Meteorological Department Director Surinder Pal Singh stated that light rain may occur at isolated locations in the state on the 16th. The weather is expected to remain dry from the 11th to the 15th. There will be no significant change in minimum temperatures (night temperatures) for the next five days.
