Delhi Police Announce Traffic Restrictions for Republic Day Celebrations

New Delhi: Delhi Police has released a comprehensive traffic advisory to ensure the smooth conduct of the Republic Day parade and related cultural events. The parade will proceed along its customary route from Vijay Chowk to the Red Fort, with extensive traffic arrangements put in place. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel in advance and avoid Central Delhi during restricted hours, as several route-restricted zones and diversions have been implemented ahead of Republic Day.

Key Road Closures and Crossing Restrictions

Traffic restrictions, which came into effect last night, will remain enforced throughout the parade today.

Kartavya Path will remain closed to all traffic until the parade concludes, and no crossings will be permitted between Vijay Chowk and India Gate until 2 pm.

Additionally, the C-Hexagon near India Gate will be closed from 9:15 am onwards.

Traffic on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhash Marg will be diverted starting at 10:30 am.

Delhi Police has further urged commuters to avoid the parade route and surrounding areas unless travel is absolutely necessary.

Metro Train Frequency and Travel Advisory

To facilitate public movement, Delhi Metro began services at 3 am on all lines today, allowing people to reach Kartavya Path for the Republic Day celebrations.

Trains will run at 15-minute intervals until 6 am, after which the normal schedule will resume for the rest of the day.

Passengers have been encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and take advantage of the early services to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
