Rewari Murder: Former BJP Mandal President’s Nephew Killed, Contractor Friend Among Accused

Rewari: A 40-year-old farmer was allegedly murdered in Haryana’s Rewari district, with his childhood friend, a construction contractor, and two others named as accused in the case.

The deceased, identified as Jitendra Yadav, was found dead on a vacant plot near the HPCL plant on Bharawas Road in Kamalpur village on Monday evening. Police found injury marks on his head and are treating the incident as a murder.

The Model Town Police have registered a case on the complaint of Jitendra’s family and launched an investigation to arrest the accused.

CCTV captures attack on Jitendra

According to the family and CCTV footage cited in the investigation, Jitendra had gone to the area on his motorcycle. Later, a black car carrying Praveen and three other youths allegedly arrived at the spot.

The footage reportedly shows one of the youths attacking Jitendra on the head from behind while he was urinating. Jitendra fell forward after the blow, following which he was allegedly struck several more times.

Another person then appears to have pulled the attacker away before the group fled the spot in the car.

Police reached the location after receiving information about the incident and took possession of the body. The investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and identify the role of each accused.

Deceased and accused were childhood friends

Jitendra’s uncle Uttam Singh, a former BJP Mandal President, said Jitendra and Praveen had been close friends since childhood and had known each other for around 20 years.

According to the family, Jitendra had left home on his motorcycle at around 3 pm to visit a dairy. Later in the evening, the village Sarpanch informed the family about the incident.

Uttam Singh said he reached the spot after receiving the information and found Jitendra lying face-down with injuries to his head. The family has alleged that Praveen and his associates were behind the killing.

The motive behind the alleged murder is yet to be established, and police have not publicly disclosed the reason for the attack.

Police launch hunt for accused

Jitendra was a farmer and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. His father had died around two years ago.

Following the discovery of the body, police initiated the post-mortem process at Rewari hospital. Based on the family’s complaint, a case has been registered against Praveen and two others, and police teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend them.

The investigation will focus on establishing the circumstances surrounding Jitendra’s death, the motive and the alleged involvement of each accused.
