Rewari Police-Criminal Encounter: 2 shooters with bounties injured in 8-round exchange of fire

A fierce encounter took place late at night in the district between the police and notorious criminals, involving an exchange of fire. In the retaliatory action, the police shot and injured two criminals, while a Sub-Inspector was also hit by a bullet fired by the miscreants; however, he survived because he was wearing a bulletproof jacket. The CIA (Crime Investigation Agency) Dharuhera had received information that some criminals were planning to commit a major crime in the Jadthal area.

Acting on this tip-off, the CIA team cordoned off the area and pursued the suspects. Finding themselves surrounded, the criminals—Mohan and Govind (alias Jhamman)—opened fire on the police team.

The police retaliated in self-defense, with about four rounds fired from each side. Mohan and Govind were shot in the legs during the police’s retaliatory fire; they were subsequently subdued and admitted to the Trauma Center in Rewari.

Sub-Inspector Fakhruddin was also hit by a bullet during the encounter, but his life was saved as the bullet struck his bulletproof jacket, averting a potential tragedy. The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of CIA Dharuhera In-charge Yogesh.

According to the police, the injured criminals—Mohan (a resident of Bolni) and Govind alias Jhamman (a resident of Rajasthan)—face over half a dozen cases involving serious charges such as murder, robbery, and extortion.

Police stated that on June 28, Mohan, along with his associates Praveen and Govind alias Jhamman, had fired three rounds at Ratiram, a resident of Bakhapur village; the police had been searching for them in connection with this case as well. DSP Surendra Sheoran, who visited the Trauma Center late at night, explained that the CIA team was pursuing the criminals when the latter opened fire on the police. In response, the police took action and arrested both accused after injuring them.
