Rewari: Police pick up minor from home; accused of administering ‘third-degree’ torture; FIR lodged against four personnel

A massive uproar has erupted following reports of the brutal assault and “third-degree” torture of a minor boy. In connection with this incident, an FIR was registered late Sunday night against four police personnel, including UIT Police Station In-charge Dara Singh Meena. The police have initiated action against the accused under charges of assault and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act.

The victim’s family alleges that they initially lodged a complaint with the police, but their grievances went unheard. Subsequently, Congress party workers joined the family in staging a protest. Faced with mounting pressure and demonstrations, the police were ultimately compelled to register the FIR.

Around 7:00 PM on Sunday, a large contingent of party workers led by Congress District President Balram Yadav along with the victim’s family, arrived at the Chopanki Police Station. There, they staged a sit-in protest and raised vociferous slogans against the police administration. Tensions escalated further around 9:00 PM when former MLA Sandeep Yadav and Congress candidate Imran Khan also joined the protest. Following these events, the police finally registered the FIR late that night.

Allegations Leveled by the Family
In their complaint, the family stated that on April 21, around 3:00 PM, Constable Gopal—along with other police personnel from the Bhiwadi Phase-3 Police Station—arrived at their home and forcibly took the 16-year-old boy into custody.  At the time, the boy was in perfect health. Later, the Station In-charge called the boy’s cousin; during the call, the boy could be heard weeping, pleading for help, and stating that he was being brutally beaten.

Denied Access Upon Reaching the Police Station

According to the family, when they arrived at the police station the following day, they were denied permission to meet the boy. Around 12:30 PM, the Station In-charge called to inform them that the boy had been admitted to a private hospital in Bhiwadi and instructed them to rush there immediately, bringing his Aadhaar card with them. Upon reaching the hospital, the family found the boy in an unconscious state and placed him on a ventilator. Given the severity of his condition, doctors referred him to a hospital in Jaipur.

The family further alleges that even at the Jaipur hospital, police personnel prevented them from recording videos or taking photographs of the boy; they reportedly intimidated the family and forced them to delete the recordings in an attempt to cover up the incident. Infection Detected in Minor’s Lungs

Meanwhile, Bhiwadi SP Brajesh Upadhyay stated that an infection has been detected in the minor’s lungs, and she is currently undergoing treatment at NIMS Hospital in Jaipur. He added that priority is currently being given to her medical treatment, and the investigation into the case has been entrusted to Additional SP Atul Sahu. Directives have been issued to conduct an impartial inquiry, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the report.
