Flash Floods Hit Ribba; 49 Roads Closed, 127 Power Transformers Shut

In Himachal Pradesh, Kinnaur district received heavy rains last night. The debris fell on the National Highway after heavy rains at Choling in Kinnaur. Two vehicles were buried in it. Due to this, the highway was closed for vehicular movement for five hours. The PWD restored the highway at around 10 am.

In Ribba village of Kinnaur, people were also panicked due to flash floods at three in the morning. Some people came out of their houses, and some started taking out their vehicles. This broke the road connecting the village. The state has received 211 per cent more rainfall than normal during the last two days. There is no hope of relief from rain for the next six days.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert today expressing the possibility of heavy rains at some places in Kangra and Mandi districts. A yellow alert has been issued for Kullu, Shimla, Sirmaur and Una districts.

Heavy rains are forecast in the medium high and low areas of the state on July 5 and six. A yellow alert has been issued for light to moderate rain in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts on July 4.

On July 5, the Western Disturbance will again strengthen and rain. Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in some parts for the next 48 hours.

Advisory to stay away from rivers and streams

The IMD has advised people to stay away from rivers and streams during heavy rains, take precautions in landslide-prone areas and keep an eye on the latest weather warnings.

49 roads, 42 power transformers closed in the state

After three days of rain in the state, 49 roads, 42 electricity transformers and 27 drinking water schemes have been affected in the state.

Temperature drops drastically after rain

After the rains in the state for the last three days, there was a drastic drop in the temperature of many cities. Chamba recorded a maximum temperature of 27.4 degrees Celsius after dropping to 9.6 degrees below normal.

Keylong recorded a low of 19.7 degrees Celsius after a drop of 6.3 degrees below normal, Manali 21.7 degrees Celsius after falling by 4.3 degrees and Kangra by 4.1 degrees Celsius to 32.0 degrees Celsius.
