Amritsar: Amritsar Division-C Police have arrested four suspects in connection with a gold robbery. The suspects stole 1.7 kilograms of gold from the owner of a courier service. Two of the suspects are employed as goldsmiths. According to reports, Mukesh Saini, a resident of Rajasthan Hall currently living at House No. 450/11 near Kesar Da Dhaba in Amritsar, filed a complaint stating that he regularly sends gold parcels abroad through a courier service.
On the evening of September 13, 2024, at approximately 5:30 pm, he collected several parcels of gold from his office and jewelers’ shops in Bazaar Tahli Wala and placed them in a handbag before leaving for his office on his scooter. At around 7:00 pm, two individuals on a motorcycle approached him from behind at the gate of Mama Kola Gurdwara Corridor and forcibly took his bag containing the gold.
The police investigated the case thoroughly and arrested the following individuals: Karanjit Singh from Drummawala Bazaar, Sultanwind Road, Amritsar, Jaskaran Singh also from Drummawala Bazaar, Sultanwind Road, Shivamdeep Singh from village Chhajalwandi, and Bikramjit Singh also known as Vicky from village Chhajalwandi in the Khalchiyan police station area. During the arrest, 1 kg 710 grams of gold jewelry, 1 pistol, and a motorcycle were seized from the accused. Karanjit Singh and Jaskaran Singh, who were previously employed as goldsmiths, had prior knowledge of the victim’s gold parcel supply business and had conducted surveillance on him. Shivamdeep Singh and Bikramjit Singh alias Vicky were the ones who committed the robbery. The arrested individuals will be presented before the court, remanded, and thoroughly interrogated.
