Jalandhar: Near the new CM residence in Jalandhar, Punjab, a young man was attacked by bike-borne robbers with a sharp weapon and robbed of his phone. As the attackers tried to flee, a person in a car chased them. When the robbers ran on the wrong side of the road, the car driver followed suit.

The fleeing robbers left behind their weapons at the scene. The driver of the car then chased and caught one of the robbers, and reportedly beat him up. Upon receiving information, the police from division number-4 arrived at the scene and took the accused into custody.

The victim was heading towards BMC Chowk when three robbers on a black Splendor bike approached. One of the robbers, who was seated at the back, was wielding a sharp weapon. He struck the young man in the head with the weapon, snatched his phone, and attempted to escape.

Meanwhile passing by in his car, a young man witnessed four other young men looting and decided to take action. When he stopped his car, the robbers fled on a bike. Undeterred, the young man in the car gave chase. The robbers tried to evade him by driving on the wrong side of the road, but the young man persisted and ended up colliding with their bike from behind, causing it to overturn.

The robbers abandoned their weapons and ran away, but the young man managed to catch one of them near Namdev Chowk. Members of the public then apprehended the robber, identified as Gem from Buta Mandi, and subjected him to a severe beating. Gem confessed that he and his accomplices, Rahul and Rajesh, also from Buta Mandi, were robbing to sustain their drug addiction.
