Shimla, Himachal: The budget session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly is set to witness intense discussions today, with several key issues lined up, including the purchase of advanced medical equipment and employment concerns.
Debate Likely Over Robotic Surgery Machines
The issue of government procurement of robotic surgery and MRI machines for medical colleges will be taken up in the House. BJP MLAs Rakesh Jamwal, Vipin Singh Parmar, Surendra Shourie, along with Congress MLA Kewal Singh Pathania, have raised questions regarding the purchase. The Health Department has reportedly spent crores of rupees on such machinery over the past three years, making it a likely flashpoint in the session.
Panchayat Chowkidars’ Regularisation Issue
Another major concern to be raised is the regularisation of Panchayat Chowkidars working under the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department. Despite over 12 years of service, many are still employed on a daily wage basis. BJP MLAs DS Thakur and Reena Kashyap, along with Congress MLA Baba Hardeep, have submitted questions on the matter.
Centre-State Financial Assistance and Fraud Cases
The House is also expected to deliberate on financial assistance received from the Centre over the last three years. BJP leaders Sudhir Sharma, Vinod Kumar, and Randhir Sharma have sought details on the issue.
Additionally, data related to digital fraud cases in the state during the same period will be presented. BJP MLA Indradutt Lakhanpal has raised queries regarding the involvement of bank officials and employees in such cases.
Opposition to Target Government on Key Sectors
Following Question Hour and Zero Hour, discussions will move to cut motions brought by the opposition. The BJP is expected to corner the government on matters related to education, health, public works, agriculture, and water supply schemes.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is likely to respond to several of these issues as the session progresses, setting the stage for a heated political debate in the Assembly.
