Rohtak Sizzles at 44°C, Heatwave in 12 Cities, Rain Likely

The heat of the sun in Haryana has now begun to scorch. On Friday, a significant rise in the state’s temperature was recorded, which has completely affected daily life. According to the Meteorological Center, Chandigarh, the mercury in Rohtak reached 44.6 degrees Celsius, which is 5.9 degrees higher than normal. Severe heat and ‘heatwave’ conditions have developed in most parts of the state.

Looking at the temperature figures, the maximum temperature in 13 major cities of the state has been recorded at 42 degrees Celsius or more. These include cities like Rohtak (44.6°C), Sirsa (43.4°C), Hisar (42.9°C), Narnaul (42.8°C), and Faridabad (43.5°C). According to the Meteorological Department, the current average maximum temperature is 4.2 degrees Celsius higher than normal.

The Meteorological Department has stated that today there will be heatwaves and warm nights in several districts, including Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Gurugram, Faridabad, Nuh, and Palwal.

Dr. Madan Khichad, Head of the Department of Agricultural Meteorology at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, stated that the weather in the state is likely to remain variable until April 29.

During this period, on the late night of April 25, a western disturbance is likely to move towards the mountains. Due to its partial effect, from the night of April 26 to April 29, Haryana is expected to have partly cloudy skies, with chances of scattered drizzle or light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas.

Considering the changes in weather and the possibility of rain and strong winds in the coming days, agricultural experts have issued important guidelines for farmers. Farmers are advised to complete the harvesting and threshing of ready wheat and barley crops as soon as possible and store the grains in a safe place.

It is advised to refrain from sowing cotton, moong, urad, and sunflower for the next 3-4 days. Similarly, the sowing of vegetables (okra, bottle gourd, cucumber) should also be postponed. Due to changing weather, avoid spraying any type of pesticide for the next three days. To protect animals from heat and sunstroke, keep them in shaded and ventilated sheds during the day and provide them with sufficient and clean water so that they do not fall victim to ‘heat stress’.

Maximum heat in Rohtak: On Friday, the heat intensified in Haryana. The average maximum temperature increased by 0.5 degrees, reaching 4.2 degrees above normal.
