Roof of Hanuman temple collapses in Maharashtra, 7 killed: 30-40 people feared buried

Parbhani, Maharashtra: At least seven people are dead, several injured and at least 30-40 injured or feared buried after an under-construction roof collapsed at a Hanuman Temple in Yashwadhi village of Maharashtra’s Parbhani district.

According to preliminary reports, a large number of devotees had gathered at the temple since the morning for darshan, as Saturdays generally witness a higher turnout at Hanuman temples. During the rush, a section of the roof along with a supporting pillar of the under-construction hall suddenly gave way, crashing onto devotees standing below.

The incident sparked panic among worshippers, with people rushing to safety as the structure collapsed.

Several Injured, Rescue Operations Underway

Officials said at least eight to ten people sustained serious injuries in the incident and were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Rescue teams, local authorities and villagers immediately launched efforts to clear the debris and search for anyone who may still be trapped under the rubble.

While initial reports raised fears of possible fatalities, authorities had not officially confirmed any deaths at the time of filing this report.

The assembly hall was reportedly under construction for the past several days. The collapse has raised concerns regarding the quality of construction work and adherence to safety norms at the site.
