Russia’s overnight attack killed 12 people, including an Indian: Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 12 people, including an Indian citizen, were killed in heavy airstrikes carried out by Russia overnight. Several other people were injured in the attacks.

Several areas, including Kyiv, targeted

According to Zelensky, Russia launched missile and drone attacks in several parts of Ukraine. Buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged in several locations in Kyiv and surrounding areas. Following the attacks, relief and rescue operations were launched in the affected areas.

A large number of drones and missiles were fired

According to Ukrainian officials, a large number of drones and missiles were used in the overnight attack. Ukrainian air defenses claimed to have intercepted many of the attacks, but some missiles and drones also fell in populated areas, causing loss of life and property.

Indian citizen among the dead

Zelensky stated that an Indian citizen was among those killed in the attack. However, details regarding the identity of the Indian citizen and his presence in Ukraine are not yet known.

Attack amid Modi-Putin meeting

This Russian attack comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, appealed for an end to the Russia-Ukraine war and a move towards peace. PM Modi said that the world should move from “endless war” to “the end of war.”
