SAD President Simranjit Singh Mann Writes to Home Minister Amit Shah Seeking Parole for Jagtar Singh Hawara to Meet Ailing Mother

Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) President and Former MP Simranjit Singh Mann has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking the release of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara on parole to allow him to be with his mother during what Mann described as her final hours.

In the letter dated August 21, 2026, Mann said the political and religious situation in Punjab was “swiftly deteriorating” because of the declining health of Hawara’s mother.

“We believe she has very little time to live,” Mann wrote.

Seeks Parole on Humanitarian Grounds

Mann urged the Union Home Minister to grant parole to Jagtar Singh Hawara so that he could spend time with his mother during her last hours.

“As such I would request that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara be released on parole to be with his mother in her last hours of life,” the SAD (Amritsar) chief stated in the letter.
