‘We’re Safe’: Ammy Virk’s Father Dismisses Rumours After Canada Firing

Abbotsford: Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk was reportedly caught up in a shooting-related incident in Abbotsford, British Columbia, after his concert on September 5. While police confirmed that a vehicle was fired upon, authorities have not established any connection between the incident and Virk.

Virk had performed at Rogers Forum in Abbotsford on Friday night. Shortly after 11 pm, police received information about a vehicle being targeted in the 2500 block of McCallum Road.

    Dark SUV Allegedly Opened Fire

According to the Abbotsford Police Department, occupants of a dark-coloured SUV allegedly fired several rounds at another vehicle. Police described the initial investigation as suggesting that the shooting was targeted.

    No injuries were reported.

Police also responded to a separate vehicle fire in the 2400 block of Sunnyside Place shortly afterwards. Officers found an SUV completely engulfed in flames. The Major Crime Unit is investigating both incidents, but police have not confirmed whether the shooting and the vehicle fire are connected.

Reports Claim Vehicle Was Part of Virk’s Convoy

Some local media reports have claimed that the vehicle targeted in the shooting was part of Ammy Virk’s convoy. Other unverified reports have suggested that the car was bulletproof and that Virk and the concert promoter were inside it. One report also identified the vehicle as a Rolls-Royce.

There have also been reports claiming that around seven rounds were fired. However, police have not publicly confirmed these details or established that Virk was inside the targeted vehicle.

    Virk’s Father Rejects Rumours

Amid speculation surrounding the incident, Ammy Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, said that the singer and his family are safe.

Singh also sought to dismiss reports suggesting that Ammy Virk himself had come under direct fire. According to him, no shots were fired at his son, and the shooting was aimed at a vehicle belonging to the organisers of the concert.

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the McCallum Road area to contact investigators as they work to establish the motive and identify those involved.
