Three Suppliers Linked to Sahota Drug Network Arrested in Himachal Under Operation Naya Savera

Dharamshala/Kangra: Kangra Police has achieved a major breakthrough under ‘Operation Naya Savera,’ a special campaign launched against drug smugglers. Dismantling the syndicate of Abhishek Sahota the kingpin of an organized interstate drug trafficking network the police have arrested three more key accused. Those apprehended include the network’s financier, who managed funds, and a primary heroin supplier.

This operation was executed based on technical evidence, analysis of financial transactions, and interrogation of previously arrested suspects. Confirming the details, Kangra District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Ratan stated that the police laid a trap after thoroughly investigating the backward and forward linkages of the Sahota drug network.

Police Raids in Punjab and Chandigarh on June 5

Three separate CIA teams were constituted to apprehend the three key accused and were dispatched to various parts of Punjab. On Friday, June 5, these teams conducted simultaneous, rapid raids at locations across Punjab and Chandigarh.

The first accused has been identified as Gaurav Sahota, a resident of Daburji Road, Guggh, Kapurthala; he was arrested in Kapurthala. A case under the NDPS Act had already been registered against Gaurav at the Baijnath Police Station.

Criminal History of Accused Honey Kumar

The second accused, Honey, son of Somnath (resident of Mandhali, SBS Nagar), was apprehended in Jalandhar. Meanwhile, the third accused, Honey Kumar, son of Rishi Kumar (resident of Chavinda Devi, Majitha, Amritsar), was successfully arrested from the Motor Market in Manimajra, Chandigarh.

Accused Honey Kumar has a prior criminal record and has previously faced charges under the NDPS Act. Police investigations have revealed shocking details regarding the financial empire of the Sahota network, exposing a massive financial racket fueled by illicit drug proceeds.
