Salman Khan Films Denies CBFC Issues for ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’, Calls Reports ‘Baseless’

Mumbai: Salman Khan Films (SKF) has dismissed reports claiming that its upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace has encountered issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), calling the rumours “completely baseless.”

In an official statement shared on social media, the production house clarified that the film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for certification, making reports of certification delays or objections factually incorrect.

“Any claims suggesting that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has encountered issues with the CBFC or that its certification has been put on hold are false. The film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for certification. Therefore, such reports are entirely baseless,” the statement read.

SKF also urged media organisations and social media users to avoid spreading unverified information, adding that all official updates regarding the film would be shared only through its official channels.

Rumours Followed Reports of Reshoots

The clarification comes after several reports claimed the film had undergone changes and reshoots, with speculation suggesting that its certification process had been delayed by the CBFC.

The production house, however, has denied these claims, stating that the certification process has not even begun.

About the Film

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace stars Salman Khan in the lead role, with Chitrangada Singh playing a key character.

The film was originally scheduled for release in April but was postponed. Reports have suggested it could now arrive in theatres around the Independence Day weekend, although an official release date is yet to be announced.

Inspired by the Galwan Valley Clash

The film was earlier titled Battle of Galwan before being renamed Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace.

It is inspired by a chapter from Shiv Aroor’s book India’s Most Fearless 2, which chronicles the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The story focuses on the bravery of soldiers from the Indian Army’s 16 Bihar Regiment, led by Colonel B. Santosh Babu, during the confrontation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
