Salman Khan Downplays Role in Karan Arjun Despite Praise

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently revisited his blockbuster film Karan Arjun (1995) co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and made a candid remark that surprised many fans. Ahead of the movie’s renewed interest, Salman said he felt he “did nothing” substantial in the film yet ended up receiving significant credit for its success.

Salman acknowledged that although the movie became a major blockbuster, it was the collective effort of the cast and crew including direction, screenplay and character development that truly shaped the film’s success, rather than any single individual.

 Candid Comments on Screenplay and Effort

In the retrospective conversation, the actor also discussed another of his acclaimed films, Tere Naam (2003), noting that his contribution felt minimal compared to the influence of the screenplay, dialogue and storytelling. He remarked that in Tere Naam, he hardly delivered dialogues in the second half, yet the film became iconic.

Extending the same perspective to Karan Arjun, Salman said that while audiences credited him heavily, he believed the success was shaped by the script, direction and teamwork rather than solely his performance.

Karan Arjun directed by Rakesh Roshan remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved action-dramas, remembered for its reincarnation theme and powerful dialogues like “Mere Karan Arjun aayenge”. The film is often celebrated as a cult classic and a milestone in 90s Hindi cinema.

Despite Salman’s self-effacing remarks, his performance alongside Shah Rukh and the ensemble cast continues to be fondly recalled by audiences decades later.
