Mumbai: Producer Boney Kapoor has marked 17 years of his 2009 film ‘Wanted’, starring Salman Khan, describing the action entertainer as a “true game-changer” and a landmark film that played an important role in shaping modern Hindi mass-action cinema.

Boney Kapoor shared a picture of a single-screen theatre showing Wanted when it was released in 2009. He also added the song ‘Le Le Mazaa Le’ as the background score to the post.

Reflecting on the film’s legacy, Boney Kapoor highlighted Salman Khan’s screen presence, Prabhu Deva’s direction and Ayesha Takia’s role in the film.

He recalled Salman Khan’s portrayal of Radhe, saying the character and the film’s action, dialogues and music left a lasting impression on audiences.

Kapoor described Wanted as more than an action entertainer, saying it marked an important moment in the evolution of modern Hindi mass-action cinema.

‘Wanted’ Remains A Landmark In Hindi Commercial Cinema

Released in 2009, Wanted was directed by Prabhu Deva and was a remake of the Tamil film Pokkiri. The film also featured Prakash Raj, Ayesha Takia, Vinod Khanna and Mahesh Manjrekar, with appearances by Arvind Swamy, Govinda and Anil Kapoor.

The action thriller follows sharpshooter Radhe, who becomes caught between a gangster who wants him dead because he knows too much, the police seeking information from him and his girlfriend, who hopes he will change his ways.

Kapoor said the film’s enduring popularity, memorable dialogues and action sequences continue to be remembered by audiences.
