Samalkha, Panipat: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the police has arrested a young man near the Samalkha bus stand, seizing 9.6 grams of heroin from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mohit, a resident of Azad Nagar in Samalkha.
A search of his person was conducted in the presence of Duty Magistrate and ETO, Dhruv Goswami. During the search, 9.6 grams of heroin, packed in a polythene bag, was recovered from the pocket of his jeans.
Roaming in Search of a Customer
According to Sub-Inspector Subhash, during interrogation, the accused Mohit revealed that he had procured 15 grams of heroin at a low price from a young man in Haridwar two or three days earlier, with the aim of making quick money. He had already sold a portion of the heroin to unidentified drug users he encountered on the street. He was roaming near the Samalkha bus stand in search of a customer to sell the remaining 9.6 grams of heroin.
A case has been registered against the accused, Mohit, under the NDPS Act at the Samalkha Police Station. The police produced him in court on Friday, from where he was remanded to police custody for two days. During the remand period, the police will attempt to locate the whereabouts of the drug supplier and effect his arrest.
