Samples of 200 medicines, including 47 manufactured in Himachal fail quality tests; Check list

In India, 200 drug samples, including 47 manufactured in Himachal Pradesh, have failed quality tests. The samples that failed to meet standards include those of paracetamol (fever medicine), clopidogrel and aspirin (heart attack medication), metformin (diabetes medication), ramipril (heart medicine), sodium valproate (epilepsy medication), and mebeverine hydrochloride (muscle relaxant).

In November, the CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation) collected 65 samples, and the State Drug Controller collected 135 samples. Of these, 47 samples failed the tests. These include 28 drug companies from Solan district, 18 from Sirmaur, and one from Una district. Notices have been issued to these companies.

Five drug samples from the Athens Life Science company in Kala Amb, Sirmaur district, failed the tests. These include Ramipril, Glimepiride, Methapred, Nisolone, and Ketorolac tablets.

Other companies whose samples failed include Martin & Brown Biosciences (Gentamicin Sulphate injection) from Malkumajra Nalagarh, Shreeram Industries (Cefixime tablets) from Baddi, Biocare Remedies (Rabeprazole Sodium and Domperidone SR capsules) from Sirmaur, Wings Biotech (Glimepiride) from Baddi, Curetech Pharmaceuticals (Cefixime) from Baddi, and Plena Remedies (Clarithromycin) from Bhatolikalan Baddi. Metformin hydrochloride from Preet Remedies in Baddi, Telmisartan from Banet Company in Manpura, Ambroxol HCl syrup from Cephalix Life Sciences in Paonta Sahib, Ramipril tablets from Pharmaroots Healthcare in Barotiwala, Paracetamol from Shivani Pharmaceutical in Baddi, Aceclofenac and Paracetamol tablets from GM Laboratory in Ghatti, Solan, and Paracetamol and Tramadol hydrochloride from Chimac Healthcare in Glang, Solan, as well as Cefixime tablets from a company in Una, have all failed to meet quality standards.

Notices will be issued to the companies whose drug samples failed the tests, and they will be instructed to recall the stock from the market. Action will be taken against the concerned companies in accordance with the rules and regulations.
