In Sangrur, Bhagwant Mann says sacrilege law will not be repealed; ED raid means join BJP, Punjabis are not afraid

Sangrur: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched a scathing attack on the BJP during a press conference in Sangrur on Friday. Following the ED raids on premises linked to Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, the CM said that the central government is using agencies like the ED, CBI, Income Tax, and Election Commission to suppress opposition leaders.

‘The sacrilege law has public support, it will not be repealed.’

The Chief Minister strongly defended the anti-sacrilege law, saying that the people of Punjab stand behind it and it will not be repealed under any circumstances. He alleged that only the Badal family is opposing the law and that an attempt is being made to vitiate the atmosphere in Punjab ahead of the 2027 elections.

Join the BJP and everything will be forgiven’

CM Mann alleged that the ED raids were being conducted to pressure politicians and businessmen to join the BJP. Citing the example of Ashok Mittal, he said the raids stopped as soon as he joined the BJP. Mann claimed that Sanjeev Arora was also being threatened, but “Punjabis are not going to be intimidated.”

Hate politics will not succeed in Punjab: Mann

The Chief Minister accused the BJP of trying to spread tension and hatred in Punjab before the elections. He said that the Hindu-Sikh brotherhood in Punjab is very strong and the seeds of hatred do not grow here. Mann also said that in 2027, Punjab will stop the BJP’s “victory chariot” and the central government should stop politics and release the state’s pending funds.
