Satluj Row Intensifies: Nabha Jail authorities seek whereabouts of Ex DSP Jaspal Singh

The Nabha Jail Administration has written to the Hoshiarpur Police seeking the current whereabouts of former DSP Jaspal Singh. Singh was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court and was lodged in the Nabha Agriculture Open Jail. In 2023, he was released on a personal bond of β‚Ή1 lakh.

Following the release of the film Satluj, the jail authorities have reportedly initiated efforts to trace him and take him back into custody, if required under the applicable legal provisions.

    Supreme Court upheld HC’s decision

In 2005, a Patiala court convicted six police officials. Two were awarded life imprisonment, while the remaining four were sentenced to seven years in prison. In 2007, the Punjab and Haryana High Court enhanced the sentences of the other four convicts to life imprisonment. The Supreme Court upheld the High Court’s verdict in 2011.

These six police officials were convicted for the abduction and murder of Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra and were ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment.

Senior police officers, including SSP Ajit Singh Sandhu and former DGP K.P.S. Gill, were accused by Khalra’s family and several organizations of allegedly issuing verbal orders to silence him.

However, they were never named as accused in the case by the investigating agency, nor were they convicted or sentenced by any court.
